Hexarelin
Hormonal — GH Secretagogue (GHRP) Hexarelin is a synthetic hexapeptide and one of the most potent growth hormone-releasing peptides identified, acting through the ghrelin receptor (GHSR-1a) to produce a markedly stronger GH pulse than earlier secretagogues such as GHRP-6. Distinct cardioprotective activity, independent of GH release, has also drawn substantial research interest. Class: Hexapeptide GHS Receptor: Ghrelin (GHSR-1a) Potency: Among the strongest GHRPs
Hexarelin
Mechanism of Action
Hexarelin binds GHSR-1a on pituitary somatotrophs, triggering a strong, rapid GH pulse — among the largest observed of any growth hormone secretagogue in preclinical dose-response studies.
Cardioprotective Research
Independent of GH release, Hexarelin binds a distinct cardiac receptor (CD36) and has shown cardioprotective effects in ischaemia-reperfusion models, including reduced infarct size — a mechanism unrelated to the GH/IGF-1 axis and of separate research interest.
Desensitisation Considerations
Hexarelin’s potency comes with a trade-off: repeated dosing produces more pronounced pituitary desensitisation and prolactin/cortisol elevation than milder secretagogues like Ipamorelin, a key consideration in research protocol design.
