KissPeptin-10
Hormonal — HPG Axis Regulator Kisspeptin-10
It is the minimal bioactive fragment of kisspeptin, a neuropeptide that sits at the very top of the reproductive hormone cascade.
By activating its receptor (KISS1R/GPR54) on GnRH neurons, it triggers the release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone — the master signal that drives the entire hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis.
– Target:
KISS1R (GPR54)
– Class:
Decapeptide, kisspeptin fragment
– Primary Research Focus:
HPG axis & reproductive endocrinology
KissPeptin-10
Mechanism of Action
Kisspeptin-10 binds KISS1R (GPR54) on GnRH-producing neurons in the hypothalamus, triggering GnRH release. GnRH in turn stimulates pituitary LH and FSH secretion, making kisspeptin signalling the primary upstream trigger of the entire reproductive hormone cascade.
Master Regulator of the HPG Axis
Because it acts upstream of GnRH itself, kissp- eptin signalling is considered the gatekeeper of puberty onset and reproductive function — mutations in the kisspeptin/KISS1R system are a well-established cause of delayed puberty and hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in clinical genetics research.
Distinct from Direct Gonadal Agents
Unlike HCG, which acts directly at the gonadal LH receptor, Kisspeptin-10 acts far upstream at the hypothalamic level — making it a research tool for studying the integrity and responsiveness of the full HPG axis rather than gonadal function in isolation.
