Mechanism of Action
GHRP-2 binds GHSR-1a in the pituitary and hypothalamus, stimulating a strong, dose-dependent pulse of growth hormone release through the same ghrelin-receptor pathway shared by the GHRP family.
Comparison to GHRP-6
While structurally related to GHRP-6, GHRP-2 produces a somewhat larger GH pulse at comparable doses and a markedly weaker appetite-stimulating effect, since it activates hypothalamic ghrelin-receptor circuits less strongly than GHRP-6’s pronounced hunger response.
Cortisol & Prolactin Considerations
Like other first-generation GHRPs, GHRP-2 produces modest elevations in cortisol and prolactin alongside GH release — a key distinction from more selective later-generation secretagogues such as Ipamorelin, relevant to research protocol design.
